Generic Plavix Indications
Clopidogrel is indicated for the reduction of atherosclerotic events (myocardial infarction, stroke, and vascular death) in patients with atherosclerosis documented by recent stroke, recent myocardial infarction, or established peripheral arterial disease. The recommended dose of Clopidogrel is 75 mg once daily with or without food. No dosage adjustment is necessary for elderly patients or patients with renal disease. The Plavix Generic tablets are indicated for the treatment of patients who have recently faced myocardial infarction or heart stroke or are suffering from established peripheral arterial disease and acute coronary syndrome.
Plavix Precautions
Clopidogrel should be discontinued at least 7 days prior to surgery. Clopidogrel should be used with caution in patients who have lesions with a propensity to bleed (such as ulcers). Drugs that might induce such lesions (such as Aspirin and other NSAIDs should be used with caution in patients taking Clopidogrel. Clopidogrel is interactive with omeprazole, esomeprazole, cimetidine, fluconazole, ketoconazole, voriconazole, etravirine, felbamate, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, and ticlopidine. So their concomitant usage should be avoided. Avoid drinking alcohol; this may increase your risk of bleeding in your stomach or intestines.
Plavix Side Effects
The possible side effects of Clopidogrel tablets are hypersensitivity reactions, anaphylactoid reactions, serum sickness. Symptoms of confusion, hallucinations, taste disorders, abnormal liver function test, hepatitis (non-infectious), acute liver failure cases of bleeding with intracranial, gastrointestinal and retroperitoneal hemorrhage have been observed in some patients as the side effects due the consumption of the drug.
